A video clip of veteran actress Rubina Ashraf criticizing fellow actress Alizeh Shah has gone viral on social media, creating fresh backlash against the senior star. The clip, which originally aired during an Eid special talk show, shows Rubina Ashraf harshly reviewing Alizeh Shah’s performance in the telefilm Chand Raat Aur Chandni.
In the clip, Rubina Ashraf bluntly says, “She is zero. Not just in this drama, but in every drama.” She further added that any credit for Shah’s performance should go to the director and writer, claiming that Alizeh only contributed with “her makeup, her curled hair, her lipstick, and her look.” Ashraf also accused the young actress of looking the same in every role.
Her comments led to a tense moment on the show, with fellow guests Atiqa Odho and Nadia Jamil appearing uncomfortable and disagreeing with her harsh remarks.
Although the video is not new, it has resurfaced on social media at a time when Alizeh Shah has recently spoken about her struggles in the entertainment industry. Shah has shared personal stories about dealing with mental health issues, feeling isolated, and facing harassment from some senior figures in the field.
Many fans and users on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) have come out in support of Alizeh Shah, saying that Rubina Ashraf’s comments were not just critical, but personal and mean-spirited. Some called the critique “petty” and “unnecessary,” while others said it reflected the bigger issue of how young female artists are treated in the industry.
One user wrote, “Rubina Ashraf clearly has a personal problem with Alizeh Shah. If makeup disqualifies her, then half the industry gets a zero too.”
Another user posted, “This isn’t professional feedback, it’s bullying. And it’s exactly the kind of negativity Alizeh has been speaking up against.”
Others even accused Rubina Ashraf of jealousy, referencing Alizeh’s looks and comparing her to Ashraf’s daughter, which sparked further debate online.
As of now, Alizeh Shah has not responded to the viral clip. However, in recent weeks, she has posted emotional videos describing how she feels targeted and humiliated by senior actors and producers. In one such video, she even named a few individuals, including singer Shazia Manzoor, accusing them of creating problems for her in the industry.
Alizeh stated, “I will not step back. I’ve stayed silent long enough. Now I will expose everyone.”
The debate continues online, with many asking for more kindness and support for young talent in the entertainment world.
