Russia and Pakistan to Strengthen Ties in Diverse Fields
The foreign minister of Russia declared that Moscow and Islamabad would strengthen their cooperation in the battle against terrorism, with Moscow supplying Pakistan with unidentified military hardware and the two nations conducting more joint military drills on the sea and in the mountains.

The first visit by a Russian foreign minister to Pakistan in nine years, Sergei Lavrov’s two-day journey there is a sign that formerly chilly relations are warming up.
It happens as Russia aims to elevate its position in the area, especially in Afghanistan, where it has positioned itself as a vital participant in intensified efforts to put decades of war to a peaceful end.

In his closing remarks, Qureshi described the visit of his Russian counterpart as “important,” noting that it had been almost a decade since they had last spoken. “We feel that this visit will further deepen our bilateral relations and our friendship, and we intend to maintain this momentum in our high-level contacts,” he continued.
