Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has clarified her recent comments about Karachi after a short clip from her podcast interview went viral and sparked controversy on social media. The actress had appeared on The Green Room podcast where she was asked if she would ever consider moving to Karachi. Her immediate response, “Astaghfirullah, never!”, led to heavy online criticism, with many viewers accusing her of disrespecting the city.

The clip spread quickly across platforms like X, Instagram, and Facebook, with users arguing that Karachi has played a major role in her acting success. Several people felt that her statement sounded ungrateful, especially since most television dramas are produced in Karachi, and the city has helped shape the careers of many actors, including Saba Qamar.

After the backlash, Saba Qamar came forward to clarify her remarks. She explained that her comment was taken out of context and that she did not intend to insult Karachi. According to her, she only meant that she personally finds more comfort living in Lahore and Islamabad and travels to Karachi mainly for work. She also mentioned that she does own a house in Karachi already.

Addressing the criticism on Instagram, Saba shared a humorous post and wrote, “You all are too funny, peace guys. Karachi is beautiful. Just keep it clean and it’ll have my whole heart.” She added that her intention was not to degrade the city, but to express that safety and environment matter when choosing where to live.

The incident has once again highlighted how easily statements from public figures can be taken out of context, especially on social media, where short clips often circulate without full background. It also reflects how emotional people can be when it comes to city identity and pride.

Despite the backlash, many of Saba’s fans supported her, saying everyone has the right to prefer living in one city over another and that personal comfort should not be mistaken for disrespect.
