Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the terrifying knife attack he survived earlier this year, describing it as a moment when “my whole life flashed before my eyes like a movie.”
The incident took place in January when an intruder broke into Saif’s Mumbai home late at night. The attacker, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, carried a wooden weapon and a blade. Saif, who was at home with his children Taimur and Jeh, confronted the man and suffered multiple injuries. A staff member was also hurt during the attack.
Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital with serious wounds, including a deep injury near his spine, and underwent emergency surgery. Looking back, the actor said he feels blessed to be alive. “There’s this crazy sense of how lucky one is because it was damn close. To walk away relatively unscathed is nothing short of miraculous,” he told Esquire India.
He recalled how, while lying injured, his mind was filled not with fame or fortune but with thoughts of his wife, children, and the precious memories they had shared. “At that time, I thought of how colorful life has been, the travels, the wine, my wife, my children. That’s everything,” he shared.
The actor also spoke about the importance of home safety after the frightening experience. “My takeaway is that you must lock doors and be careful. We have a lot, and a lot do not. So while I am grateful, we must understand that and be careful,” he said.
Saif urged people to take security precautions seriously, advising families to secure entry points and consider upgrading home safety measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
