Pakistan’s rising cricket star, Saim Ayub, has commenced his rehabilitation journey at Arsenal FC’s Sobha Realty Training Center in London following a serious right ankle injury sustained earlier this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared footage of the young left-handed batter working out at the world-class facility, marking the start of his road to recovery.
Ayub suffered the injury on the opening day of the second Test during Pakistan’s away series against South Africa in January 2025. The severity of the injury sidelined him from international cricket for at least six weeks, ruling him out of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025—a tournament where Pakistan struggled in his absence, failing to secure a single victory.

Following medical assessments, the PCB decided to send the young opener to London for specialized treatment, ensuring he receives the best possible care for a swift return to competitive cricket.
With Ayub out of action, Pakistan has faced significant challenges, particularly in the opening department. His absence, along with Fakhar Zaman’s, left the team vulnerable at the top order, contributing to their early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Additionally, the injury forced Ayub to miss Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand, which featured five T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled from March 16 to April 5.
Despite the setback, the PCB remains optimistic about Ayub’s recovery. If his rehabilitation progresses as planned, he is expected to regain full match fitness in time for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. His potential return will be a major boost for Peshawar Zalmi, the franchise he represents in the tournament.
Former Pakistan captain and legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi recently expressed his support for Ayub, stating that he wants to see the young batter take on a leadership role in the national team in the future.
Saim Ayub’s injury has been a major blow for Pakistan, but his determination to recover at Arsenal FC’s elite training facility signals his commitment to returning stronger than ever. With his expected comeback in PSL 10, fans eagerly await his return to the field, hoping he can reclaim his spot as one of Pakistan’s most promising batting talents.
