Lahore, March 27: Pakistan opener Saim Ayub has taken a major step in his recovery journey as he arrives in Lahore for a critical fitness test at the National Academy. His participation in the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 remains uncertain, pending medical clearance.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources, Ayub has completed his rehabilitation after suffering an ankle fracture during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January. The injury, sustained while fielding, was later diagnosed as a fracture, requiring extensive treatment in London under the supervision of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s arrangements.

Following more than two months of recovery, Ayub has now returned to Pakistan, with PCB officials revealing that his latest medical reports from the UK are encouraging. The board’s medical panel is set to assess his condition and determine fitness guidelines based on his recovery progress.

While Ayub is expected to celebrate Eid with his family in Karachi, his PSL participation remains contingent on the outcome of the fitness test in Lahore. If cleared, his return would be a significant boost for Peshawar Zalmi, the franchise he represents in the league.

With PSL X set to begin soon, all eyes will be on Ayub’s fitness evaluation, which will decide whether the promising opener can make a comeback in time for the tournament. Fans and team officials await the final verdict on his availability for the marquee T20 event.
