Renowned Pakistani actor Saleem Meraj has spoken out in support of actress Hira Mani, urging critics to stop judging her for her personal lifestyle and social media presence.

Speaking during a recent podcast, Meraj said Hira Mani should be free to enjoy her life without facing unnecessary backlash for her fashion or public image.

“If she wants to enjoy her life at this age, let her,” he stated. “People should not criticize her for it.”

“Criticism of Hira Mani is unwarranted”

Meraj highlighted that Hira Mani’s frequent appearances in sarees and elegant outfits are her personal choice and should not invite public scrutiny.

He also praised both Hira Mani and her husband Mani as “very good people,” adding that constant negativity toward them “makes no sense.”

“They’re good individuals and dedicated artists. There’s no reason to attack them over how they live or dress,” he added.

Social media stars deserve fair chances

During the same conversation, Meraj addressed criticism directed at TikTokers and social media influencers entering Pakistan’s television and film industry.

He said that if newcomers from digital platforms show genuine acting ability, they deserve opportunities.

“In the past, there was no social media. Today, if someone from that space can act well, we should appreciate them,” he said.

Meraj cited Hania Aamir as an example of someone who successfully transitioned from social media to mainstream television, stressing that new, younger talent is essential for modern storytelling.

Rating fellow actresses

In a lighthearted segment, Saleem Meraj shared his personal ratings of several popular Pakistani actresses:

  • Saba Qamar: 10/10 — “My favorite actress.”
  • Hiba Bukhari: 6/10 — talented but not a personal favorite.
  • Resham: 5/10 — once admired, but her recent performances “lack the spark.”
  • Saima Noor: praised for her “remarkable improvement over time.”
  • Hira Mani: 6/10 — described as a “good actress” and “a pleasant co-star.”

“Saima Noor has grown immensely”

Meraj spoke fondly of veteran actress Saima Noor, saying he admired her since childhood and appreciates her recent performance in Main Manto Nahi Hoon.

He added that while Resham once held great promise, her acting “no longer resonates” with him, reflecting the industry’s evolving standards.
