Samsung May Replace Galaxy S26+ With All-New Model

Just days after the sanctioned debut of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is reportedly considering a significant change to its flagship smartphone lineup. According to bigwig sources from South Korea, the tech mammoth may discontinue the Galaxy S26 variant in 2026 and rather introduce an streamlined interpretation of the Edge model as part of the Galaxy S26 series. 

Still, the Galaxy S26 series will feature three models the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, If the current plans move forward. This would mark a departure from Samsung’s traditional flagship strategy, which for times has included a base model, a Plus variant, and a decoration Ultra interpretation. The junking of the Plus model would be a major strategic shift, reportedly driven by weak deals performance.

Assiduity judges suggest that internal vaccinations for the Galaxy S25 series show a significant deal gap between the models. Samsung expects to sell an aggregate of 37.7 million units of the S25 lineup, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra projected to lead the way with 17.4 million units. The base Galaxy S25 is anticipated to be for 13.6 million, while the Galaxy S25 lags before at just 6.7 million units. These figures may have urged Samsung to rethink the necessity of the Plus variant moving forward. 

The new Galaxy S26 Edge is built to replace the Plus model in the lineup. Unlike former Edge models that concentrated primarily on twisted screen aesthetics, the forthcoming interpretation may offer a thinner design and unique tackle characteristics. The redesign could also reflect a broader assiduity trend, as Apple is reportedly planning to phase out its iPhone Plus models in favor of thinner bias like the forthcoming iPhone 17 Air. 

One of the most awaited aspects of the Galaxy S26 Edge is the implicit preface of advanced battery technology. Some early reports suggest Samsung may incorporate silicon- carbon( Si/ C) battery technology to enhance power effectiveness in slimmer form factors. While this point has not been verified, it aligns with the company’s ongoing sweats to introduce design and performance. 

At this stage, development of the Galaxy S26 series is still in progress, and final opinions regarding the product lineup have yet to be made. Samsung has not officially reflected on the rumors, and the structure of the coming- generation flagship family remains subject to change.
