Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani has shared her disappointing experience working with actor Humayun Saeed and director Nadeem Baig during the making of the hit comedy series Jawani Phir Nahi Aani. In a recent interview, the actress claimed she was treated unfairly and disrespected throughout the production of the first two films, despite playing a significant role in their success.
Sarwat said her role in the first film was cut short without her being informed. When the sequel was announced, she initially refused to take part because of her earlier experience. However, she agreed after Nadeem Baig assured her that her character would be properly developed in the second film. According to her, that promise was never fulfilled. She added that her role was once again reduced and she was excluded from the movie’s promotion campaign.
The actress revealed that even though she booked her own tickets for the promotional tour to London, she was not informed about the schedule. “I later found out that the whole team had already left,” she said. Gilani expressed frustration that the filmmakers only reached out when they needed her and then ignored her afterward.
Sarwat confirmed that she was approached again for Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3, but she turned down the offer, saying she would no longer compromise her self-respect. “I want equal respect and a rightful place for my character. I will not tolerate such behavior again,” she stated.
Despite her disappointment, Sarwat maintained that she still respects both Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig on a personal level. However, she said her decision to stay away from the third part of the franchise is final.
The Jawani Phir Nahi Aani films, released in 2015 and 2018, were major box office hits and starred Humayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry, and Ahmad Ali Butt. Sarwat Gilani’s portrayal of a Pathan woman married to Vasay Chaudhry’s character was widely appreciated. Her recent statements, however, have sparked discussion in the entertainment industry and among fans about professionalism and respect in film collaborations.
