Saudi Arabia Announces Friday As Eid Al Fitr 2023

Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid Al Fitr 2023 will take place on Friday, April 21, the sighting of the crescent moon for the Islamic month of Shawwal on Thursday. Shawwal is the tenth month of the Islamic calendar and marks the end of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia is one of the nations that will complete 29 days of fasting rather than 30 as a result of this news.

However, some nations, like Morocco, plan to declare Saturday, April 22, as Eid Al Fitr.

Saudi Arabia has officially declared Friday as Eid day, less than a week after issuing a clarification statement in response to questions over the fate of the Friday prayer should Eid fall on a Friday. The message, which was released on April 12, emphasized that individuals who attend Eid prayers are given permission not to attend the Friday prayers if Eid falls on a Friday.

The Saudi government emphasized that while participating in both services is welcomed, people who are unable to attend the Eid prayers are still required to offer Friday prayers.

The United Arab Emirates, and several Gulf nations, and Saudi Arabia have all declared Friday to be Eid Al Fitr.
