Saudi Arabia Requires This Vaccine for Hajj 2025

March 24, 2025 — In preparation for Hajj 2025, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made it mandatory for all pilgrims—both local and international—to be vaccinated against meningitis. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as part of broader efforts to protect pilgrims and prevent the spread of infectious diseases during the annual pilgrimage.

According to the ministry, proof of meningitis vaccination will be a prerequisite for registering and booking Hajj packages. Pilgrims who fail to provide valid documentation will be barred from performing Hajj. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has also issued an advisory mandating that all arriving pilgrims carry valid health certificates, including proof of vaccination.

This new regulation comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s strict public health policies aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience for millions expected to attend from around the world.

Pakistan Announces Major Cost Cuts and Refunds for Pilgrims

In a separate but related development, Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, has announced a reduction in Hajj 2025 expenses for Pakistani pilgrims. The move is expected to ease the financial burden on thousands of applicants.

  • The 40-day Hajj package has been reduced by Rs. 25,000, bringing the total cost down to Rs. 1,050,000. Pilgrims opting for this package will need to submit a third installment of Rs. 450,000.
  • The shorter 25-day package received a Rs. 50,000 reduction, now costing Rs. 1,100,000, with a third installment of Rs. 500,000.

Pilgrims are required to make their final payments between February 6 and 14 to confirm their bookings.

Refunds for Hajj 2024 Pilgrims

In a move welcomed by many, the Ministry also confirmed that over Rs. 4.75 billion will be refunded to pilgrims from the 2024 Hajj season. The refund amounts range from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 140,000, depending on variations in airfare and accommodation costs.

Refunds will be disbursed through designated banks within two days, providing timely financial relief to the returning pilgrims.
