SBCA Abolishes Post of Town Directors
Sindh: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) in Karachi has been reorganised as a result of a notification issued by the secretary of the Sindh Local Government. According to a news source, the aforementioned notification results in the termination of the SBCA town directors’ positions and the creation of a new position called SBCA district directors.

After the introduction of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001, Karachi was split into 18 towns and each one was under a town director and a further of two to three deputy directors, six assistant directors and a maximum of nine senior building inspectors (SBIs) worked under the appointed director.
The SBCA director will keep an eye on the developments in the chosen district after the notification is issued. Moreover, there were 43 more deputy directors than there were 32 assistant directors, a decrease of 126 to 97.

Around six deputy directors, 20 assistant directors, and 20 SBIs will work for each district director of the SBCA. Each district team will also have 40 to 50 officials.
The SBCA Director claimed that the changes will help the organisation become more efficient and close gaps. Moreover, the new system would aid in monitoring constructions and any prospective infractions.
