Second Shipment of Crude Oil From Russia Reaches Karachi
A second shipment of 55,000 tonnes of Russian URAL oil arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday and is currently waiting to dock at the Karachi Port.
As soon as the berthing plan has been approved, the ship will dock at the oil pier. Earlier today, the Clyde Noble cargo carrying URAL crude was in the Arabian Sea en route to the port of Karachi.
Originally scheduled to arrive on June 20, the second shipment is now anticipated to port today.
Pakistan received its first shipment of URAL crude on June 12 when a ship carrying 45,000 tonnes of Russian crude oil docked at the Karachi port.

In April of this year, the government placed the first order for 100,000 tonnes of Russian crude oil after months of discussions between the two nations about the terms of the deal. In accordance with this arrangement, Russia sent the first oil ship, which arrived at the port in Oman early this month.
However, due to Pakistan Refinery restricted’s (PRL) restricted storage capacity, the Pakistani port was unable to receive massive consignments of over 50,000 tonnes of oil cargo. As a result, the authorities decided that it would be transported into Pakistan via smaller ships.
In any case, PRL will probably need about two months to refine the fuel because the refinery first combines Saudi Aramco oil with Russian URAL before refining it.
In accordance with an agreement reached between Islamabad and Russia, Pakistan made its first order for Russian oil at the end of April. Musadik Malik, Pakistan’s energy minister at the time, emphasised that Pakistan would only purchase crude fuels and not refined ones.
The minister added that if the first transaction goes off without a hitch, daily imports of Russian crude are anticipated to surpass 100,000 barrels.
