SECP Observes 39% Growth in Company Registrations
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) launched reforms for Ease of Doing Business and Digitalization, and as a result, entrepreneurship in the nation is still expanding.

In comparison to the same period last year, SECP has incorporated 19,251 companies in the first three-quarters of FY 2020-21, a rise of 39% annually. In the fiscal years 2018–2019 and 2019–2020, the SECP registered 14,493 and 16,945 businesses, respectively. There are currently 139,620 firms registered with SECP in total.
118,280 of the total number of registered firms are active, making up 85% of the total number of companies that file yearly filings.
Foreign investment has been recorded by 43 new businesses. These businesses have received investments from investors from Afghanistan, Australia, China, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Korea South, Mauritius, Norway, Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States.

The largest number of companies were registered in Islamabad, with 850, followed by Lahore and Karachi, with 751 and 385, respectively. The CROs in Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Quetta, and Sukkur registered 176, 170, 104, 43, 22, 12, and 12 businesses, respectively.
