The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has published an official list of 125 foreign companies that have formally wound up their operations in Pakistan as of January 20, 2026. The announcement was made as part of regulatory documentation and record updating.
According to SECP, the list includes branch offices and liaison offices of foreign firms that have closed their activities in major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar. These companies completed the required legal process before being recorded as officially wound up.
The companies were operating in different sectors of the economy, showing that foreign investment had a presence in multiple industries before the closures. Their areas of work included services, engineering, trade, energy, construction, and technology, among others.
The published list includes firms from several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Turkey, Australia, Sweden, Bahrain, Canada, France, and the Netherlands. This reflects the wide international footprint of businesses that had previously established offices in Pakistan.
SECP also clarified that some of the companies had stopped operations earlier, but their closure was formally recorded by the regulator by the given date. The release of this information is part of maintaining transparency and ensuring that corporate records remain updated and accurate.
By making the list public, SECP has provided a clear official record of foreign companies that have exited the Pakistani market, allowing investors, businesses, and the public to stay informed about changes in the corporate landscape.
