Authorities in Murree have imposed Section 144 for three days, restricting entry to the popular Mall Road only for tourist families. The restriction will be in place from August 12 to August 14 to help manage large crowds during the busy Independence Day holiday season.
Murree’s Deputy Commissioner said the step is aimed at ensuring public safety and keeping the flow of visitors smooth during peak tourist days. Police and administration teams will be stationed at the site to monitor the situation and guide visitors.
Officials have warned that anyone violating Section 144 will face strict legal action. Offenders could be charged under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries penalties including fines or imprisonment.
The measure is part of crowd control efforts as Murree expects a surge of tourists during the long holiday weekend.
