Senate Body Comes Down on CDA for Ban on Utility Connections
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) was severely criticised by a parliamentary committee for prohibiting utility connections for homes constructed on private property.

It instructed the providers of utility services to grant new connections in locations where their network is already present.
The CDA and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) provided the Senate Standing Committee on Interior with an update on the state of electrical connections during their meeting, which was presided over by Raja Khurram Nawaz.

The CDA had asked Iesco and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) a few years prior not to issue any new connections without a non-objection certificate (NOC) from the municipal agency in accordance with a 2004 federal cabinet decision and a court ruling.
The committee expressed worry regarding the pervasive usage of ice at colleges, universities, and schools.
The members made the decision to hold a separate meeting with the Ministry of Industry, Pakistan Customs, Ministry of Narcotics, police, and provincial chief secretaries in this regard.
