FBR to Withdraw Bank Account Attachment Notification
Islamabad: According to news reports, the Senate Standing Committee on Finance has requested that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) remove its directives to block the bank accounts of tax defaulters without prior warning.
According to these instructions issued by the FBR on October 12, the board is no longer required to provide a 24-hour warning prior to freezing the bank accounts of defaulters. In addition, the committee discussed the mandatory payment of corporate tax using the digital payment system.
It has been asserted that the technique will create havoc on the tax payment system due to the unfamiliarity of many businesses with it.

Members of the FBR briefed the committee that the action was taken to collect taxes that otherwise would not have been collectible. The committee instructed the board to refrain from sending frequent alerts to businesses to encourage collaboration.
