In a bold call to strengthen Pakistan’s defense posture, Senator Faisal Vawda on Wednesday proposed tripling the country’s military budget and doubling the salaries of armed forces personnel, citing the worsening regional security landscape.
Speaking during a Senate session, Vawda emphasized that all development spending should be frozen and diverted to national defense, arguing that survival takes precedence over infrastructure.
“In times of war, we must prioritize defense over development,” Vawda stated, urging immediate financial restructuring in favor of Pakistan’s armed forces.

Meanwhile, Senator Sherry Rehman of the PPP reiterated her party’s support for peace and dialogue, but drew a firm line against engaging with militants involved in child killings, saying:
“Those who murder children are not political stakeholders — they are terrorists.”
