Share for Education in Punjab Up by 13pc
The Punjab government has earmarked 442 billion rupees for education in the fiscal year 2021-22, a 13 percent increase from the previous year.

The government requested Rs 54.22 billion for development expenses and Rs 388 billion for current expenses, while spending on education would account for 17% of the whole Punjab budget.
Out of a total development budget of Rs54.22 billion, Rs33 billion have been allocated to school education, Rs15.065 billion to higher education, Rs755 million to special education, and Rs2.9 billion to literacy and non-formal basic education.
In order to address the issue of access to education, the Insaaf School upgrade initiative has been initiated. During the course of the year, 25 percent of primary schools (8,360) will be upgraded to elementary schools, with 40 percent of these schools located in south Punjab.
A budget of Rs 17 billion has been allocated for the development of an engineering and technology university in Sialkot.

The government will create 86 new colleges throughout the province’s several districts. Usman Buzdar, the chief minister of Punjab, has ordered the distribution of 834 million rupees in Rahmatulal Ameen scholarships to 15,000 intellectual and worthy students.
