Her Highness Sheikha Asma Al Thani of Qatar was named Pakistan’s Brand Ambassador for Mountains and Tourism by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after she successfully ascended the imposing Nanga Parbat.
The prime minister congratulated her on Tuesday on social networking site X, expressing delight in her accomplishment and describing it as a symbol of resilience and inspiration.
PM Shehbaz wrote, “I am delighted to announce Her Highness Sheikha Asma Al Thani as Pakistan’s Brand Ambassador for Mountains and Tourism.”
“My sincere congratulations on your successful climb to Nanga Parbat. This incredible accomplishment is incredibly motivating and poignant.
Her triumph, according to the prime minister, is a monument to the relationship that has endured between Qatar and Pakistan and a message of bravery and tenacity.
Sheikha Asma thanked God and reflected on her ascent in a moving post: “Alhamdulillah – Nanga Parbat.” It was my seventh 8000+ meter mountain and one of the hardest climbs I’ve ever tried.
With black ice beneath my feet and pebbles dropping every few seconds, this mountain put me to the test in every manner possible. It served as a continual reminder of how fleeting life is.
But there was development in that terror. They gave up. I was unaware of the strength I possessed.
I don’t climb mountains only to get to the top. I climb to get back to what really counts, to get back in touch with myself away from the cacophony. This mountain will always be a part of me.
Getting over “Killer Mountain”
A member of the Qatari royal family, Sheikha Asma Al Thani, accomplished the ascent of Nanga Parbat, one of Pakistan’s tallest and most hazardous peaks, which stands at 8,126 meters.
Because of its hazardous terrain and severe weather, Nanga Parbat is known as the “Killer Mountain” and is one of the most deadly climbers in the world.
Her accomplishment not only demonstrates Sheikha Asma’s tenacity but also the strengthening ties between Qatar and Pakistan as a result of their mutual love of adventure and the beauty of nature.
