Shortage of Conveniences Troubling Regi Model Town
Peshawar: Despite the Peshawar Development Authority’s repeated efforts to resolve and concentrate on the persistent problems plaguing Regi Model Town, its dubious residents claim the actions were too late and too little.

Since the Regi Model Town was founded in 1990, the Kokikhel Afridi tribe of the Khyber region has inhabited a significant section of the land next to the expansive township. The PDA officials and provincial government have fought to reclaim this property.
To meet the rising demand for housing in the city, the government purchased 36, 000 kanals of land, divided into five zones.

The Kokikhel tribe, according to PDA authorities, has invaded the Peshawar area, crossed the Mayfith-Grifth Line, and taken up the majority of the land purchased for the township.
Since then, the Kokikhel and PDA conflict has been in dispute for nearly thirty years, with successive governments making fruitless attempts to resolve it. This has affected hundreds of plot owners in the two contested zones.

Regarding roads in undisputed zones, the DG said PC-I for the carpeted roads had already been approved and tendering exercise will be carried out in a few of days.
