Mari Energy Limited has announced a major oil and gas discovery at its Mari Ghazij Exploration Well in the Mari Field, providing a significant boost to Pakistan’s local energy production. The company confirmed that the well will yield both oil and natural gas, marking another important step toward energy self-sufficiency.
According to the company’s statement, the Mari Ghazij Exploration Well, located in Dharki, was drilled to a depth of 1,195 meters, successfully uncovering substantial hydrocarbon reserves. Drilling operations began on September 12 and concluded with positive results, revealing strong production potential.
Initial testing shows that the well can produce around 305 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and approximately three million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD). This new production will contribute directly to Pakistan’s national energy grid, helping reduce dependence on imported fuels.
Mari Energy Limited’s Managing Director, Fahim Haider, said this is the second major oil discovery in the Gharij area. He highlighted that the company remains dedicated to boosting Pakistan’s energy independence by exploring and developing domestic resources.
“Mari Energy has once again demonstrated its technical strength and commitment to advancing Pakistan’s energy sector,” Haider said.
Mari Energy Limited is currently Pakistan’s largest natural gas producer, holding a 30% market share. The latest discovery strengthens its leadership position in the country’s energy landscape and aligns with the national goal of achieving sustainable and reliable energy growth.
