Sindh Authorities Allocate More Land for Palm Tree Plantation
Thatta, Sindh: The government’s ambitious plan to increase palm oil production there by establishing palm groves on 1,000 acres of land has encountered serious setbacks recently.
The biggest challenge, according to reports, has been a lack of raw materials at the government’s mill for extracting palm seeds, which has delayed the timely planting of palm oil trees in the designated region.

Pakistan has been compelled by this shortfall to rely significantly on pricey imports of palm oil each year from nations like Indonesia and Malaysia.
Initially, the Thatta district’s 1,000 acres would have been planted with palm trees by Sindh’s Coastal Development Authority (CDA), but sadly, the project has not gone as planned.
The CDA recently resolved to begin the project to plant palm trees, with an anticipated cost of Rs 356 million, in a meeting presided over by Provincial Minister Ismail Rahu.
A further 2,000 acres of land have been given to the Coastal Development Authority in order to broaden the project’s scope.
Additionally, the Sindh Cabinet has given the go-ahead for the planting of palm trees on an additional 3,000 acres of forest area in order to assist the production of palm oil.
