In an attempt to honor one of Pakistan’s most admired humanitarian leaders, the Sindh government has declared that it will create a movie about the life and contributions of Abdul Sattar Edhi, the late philanthropist and founder of the Edhi Foundation.
At the closing ceremony of a film festival in Karachi, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made the news.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Memon said that the biopic would be produced in partnership with renowned filmmaker Satish Anand by the provincial government. He underlined the importance of using film to tell stories, especially when showcasing the accomplishments of national heroes whose heritage needs to be conserved for coming generations.
“Films are actively used as a tool to promote national narratives and influence global perceptions in neighboring India.” Regretfully, Pakistani cinema has not yet reached its full potential, the minister stated.

He went on to say that Indian filmmakers were apparently preparing to develop about 100 films about the conflict in the wake of recent hostilities between India and Pakistan. On the other hand, we don’t have any such plans. However, there are a lot of amazing, true stories in Pakistan that should be adapted for the big screen.
Mr. Memon described Abdul Sattar Edhi as a ray of humanity and hope, and he stated that the government should make sure that young people are aware of his work and principles.
“Everyone in modern-day Pakistan is familiar with Edhi Sahib. However, future generations could not comprehend the scope of his achievements if we do not tell his narrative. “We can immortalize such legacies through film,” he said.
Although the minister affirmed the project, no further information was given about the film’s cast, production schedule, or anticipated release date.
After an extended sickness, Abdul Sattar Edhi died in July 2016 at the age of 88. Edhi, who is well-known for his altruistic efforts, founded one of Pakistan’s biggest and most reliable assistance networks. Across the nation, the Edhi Foundation still offers services like ambulance services, orphanages, and shelter homes.
