On Monday, the Ministry of Health approved that a 6th case of Mpox (formerly monkeypox) has been reported in Pakistan. According to the Ministry’s representative, Border Health Services staff noticed the patient, a 44-year-old person with a travel history to Gulf countries, during screening at Islamabad Airport.

The patient has been admitted to the isolation ward at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and is presently in stable health. Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, the PM’s Coordinator on Health, stated that Border Health Services staff at Islamabad Airport are sustaining an effective screening process. So far, 630,000 passengers have been screened at airports across the country.
Dr. Bharath highlighted that the Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the situation to guarantee public safety. He added that both the federal and provincial governments are taking essential measures to control the spread of Mpox in Pakistan.
