Solar Panel Prices in Pakistan Hit Historic Lows

In a surprising turn, solar panel prices in Pakistan have dived to historic lows, now ranging between Rs. 30-32 per watt. This remarkable drop is attributed to a combination of factors, including an oversupply in the local market and a decline in international rates.

Industry sources show that the reduction is mainly due to a significant drop in lithium battery prices globally, which have fallen by nearly 50 percent over the past year. This global trend has influenced domestic solar panel pricing, though dry batteries have yet to see similar reductions as importers maintain higher prices.

Since 2023, Pakistan’s solar energy sector has grown rapidly, fueled by imports from China, to meet the growing demand for net metering. Rising grid electricity costs have driven many consumers to opt for more affordable and dependable solar energy solutions.
