Soneri Bank Limited has appointed Ahsan Mushahid Siddiqui as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, with effect from April 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
According to a notice issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the decision was approved by the bank’s Board of Directors during its 214th meeting held on January 29, 2026. Mr. Siddiqui will succeed Muhtashim Ahmad Ashai, whose employment contract is due to expire on March 31, 2026.
The appointment will take effect after clearance from the State Bank of Pakistan under the Fit and Proper Test criteria applicable to senior executives in the banking sector.
During the same board meeting, directors placed on record their appreciation for the services rendered by the outgoing President and CEO and extended best wishes for his future professional endeavors.
Soneri Bank informed the stock exchange that the leadership transition is part of its routine succession planning process and that the change has been duly communicated to all relevant regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Soneri Bank operates as a mid-sized commercial bank with a nationwide branch network, offering services across corporate, commercial, SME, and consumer banking segments. Market participants are closely watching leadership changes at banks like Soneri amid a broader period of adjustment in Pakistan’s banking sector, characterized by elevated interest rates, balance sheet pressures, and tighter regulatory oversight.
