Speedy Work on Peshawar Northern Bypass Ordered
Peshawar: The district government has asked the contractor to speed up building of the final two sections of the Rs 22 billion Peshawar Northern Bypass following the resolution of long-standing land acquisition difficulties.
The 32-kilometer road connecting the M-I Motorway at Chamkani with the Takhta Baig checkpoint of the Jamrud tehsil in the Khyber tribal district began building in 2009 with a three-year deadline. Since then, however, it has moved slowly due to acquisition, compensation, and encroachment issues.
The official reported that a compensation disagreement in Kaniza mouza, which had delayed the project, had been resolved. The official asserted that the issue of a single house in the middle of the road, which had remained unresolved since 2013, had been resolved.
According to him, despite the fact that a land dispute had impeded growth in the Shahi Bala and Regli Lalma sectors due to the presence of Regi Badizai, this issue has since been resolved. In addition, no land grants were issued in the regions of Khappa Daag, Patwar Payan, or Regli Lalma.

The length of Section II of the project, which runs from Charsadda Road to Warsak Road, is 12 kilometres. Section III, which was divided into Sections III-A and III-B, stretches 13 kilometres from Warsak Road to Takhta Baig checkpoint.
The initial cost estimate for the project was over Rs 9 billion; however, due to complications, the PC-I was modified, resulting in a cost increase to Rs 22 billion.
