Spotify has introduced a new in-app feature called Messages, giving users a simple way to share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly inside the app. The rollout has already started and will be available worldwide to both Free and Premium users.

For years, Spotify listeners have been sharing their favorite tracks and playlists through Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, and other social platforms. Now, the company is creating its own space for personal conversations without removing external sharing options. Messages allows users to send songs, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks in private one-on-one chats. Listeners can also react with emojis, send text replies, and access their chats by tapping their profile photo at the top of the app.

To keep things safe and flexible, users can accept or decline chat requests, block unwanted accounts, or completely turn off the feature in their settings. Spotify will also suggest people to connect with based on past interactions, such as collaborative playlists, Jams, Blends, or family plan links.

This feature is more than just convenience. Spotify hopes Messages will help boost discovery for new artists, podcasters, and writers. By making word-of-mouth sharing easier, the company aims to build more personal recommendations, which often carry more weight than algorithm-based suggestions.

Spotify has also stressed that security and privacy are a priority. All messages will be encrypted both in transit and at rest. The platform will use proactive tools to detect harmful or unlawful content, while human moderators will handle user reports to keep the space safe.

According to the company, this launch is just the beginning. Spotify plans to expand the feature with more functions in the coming months. The new messaging tool also arrives shortly after another price hike, signaling Spotify’s strategy to increase user engagement while also growing its revenue.

With this update, Spotify is not only making sharing easier but also trying to create a more connected and engaging experience for listeners around the world.
