In a major push toward digital payments, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has rolled out its nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign just in time for Eidul Adha 2025.
Launched on Tuesday, May 20, the campaign aims to promote secure, transparent, and convenient cashless transactions across livestock markets throughout the country. The initiative will run through Eid night, which is expected to fall on June 7, according to moon-sighting forecasts.
A Digital Shift in Eid Shopping
With support from Pakistan’s banking industry, SBP’s campaign is transforming the traditional livestock buying experience by encouraging people to use digital payment methods instead of cash. This includes payments for:
- Sacrificial animals
- Fodder and water
- Parking and other services at animal markets
To make high-value transactions smoother, the SBP has also temporarily increased digital payment limits from May 19 to June 15, making it easier for traders and buyers to move larger sums digitally.
