Islamabad: Since September 2023, the PKR’s strengthening relative to the USD has caused a significant decline in steel rates. The news sources claim that while cement prices are still high, steel prices are falling, which will relieve the building industry. According to the most recent information, the cost of steel per metric ton has dramatically dropped. It is currently just PKR 245,000 per metric ton, a significant fall from the previous PKR 305,000 per metric ton price.
Market data, as reported by traders, show that branded steel is priced between PKR 260,000 and PKR 265,000 per metric ton, while indigenous steel is now priced at PKR 245,000 per metric ton.
