Strict Action to Be Taken Against Corrupt Tax Officials: FBR
In accordance with the Board’s zero-tolerance for corruption policy, Javed Ghani, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), informed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that the FBR is taking strict action against the dishonest tax officials.
Javed Ghani informed the committee that the Regional Integrity Committees (RICs) and Integrity Management Cell are looking into allegations of corruption against tax officials during the PAC meeting to review audit paras for 2019–20.
Where corruption has been demonstrated, tax officials will face harsh punishment. The committee meeting was presided over by Rana Tanveer Husain.

When Amir Dogar, the PTI chief whip in the National Assembly and a member of the PAC, shared his personal experience, it brought to light the problem of corruption in the tax system.
Officials from the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) also told the committee that a team had been sent to the National Bank of Pakistan to audit its operations. The bank, however, has refused to abide by the request in a letter to the office.
The committee also ordered the president of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to show up at the next meeting.
