Student Commits Suicide After Not Getting Enough Marks in Exams
In a distressing incident, a student from Swat tragically took his own life, and the police have stated that the student was upset about his performance in an examination.
The student, identified as Ayub Khan and residing in College Chowk Matta, reportedly shot himself after completing the first paper of the ongoing Secondary School Certificate exams.
This tragic event has raised concerns among educationists and psychologists who emphasize the importance of parents not pressuring their children to achieve exceptional results in exams.

Experts criticize the education system for solely valuing students based on high grades, which creates immense pressure on those who struggle to cope with the competition.
They also believe that the examination process itself promotes rote learning for better grades, rather than promoting a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
An educationist expressed,
When parents exert pressure on their children to excel in exams, it increases stress and anxiety, leading to negative impacts on their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is among the countries where student suicides are unfortunately not uncommon, with teenagers accounting for 25 percent of such cases.
According to a report published by the World Health Organization, Pakistan records over 15,000 suicide cases annually, with a significant number attributed to the unnecessary burden placed on students during exams.
