The research, published on a medical platform, examined 17 studies with over 61,000 participants. It showed that people who consumed more than 3,500 milliliters of sugary drinks per week were more likely to face hair thinning and hair loss.
According to experts, the reason is linked to high sugar levels in the body. Sugary drinks cause a spike in blood glucose, which can weaken hair follicles over time. When the follicles become weak, the scalp struggles to maintain strong and healthy hair growth.
Doctors suggest that people should limit sugary drinks and instead focus on a balanced diet to protect their hair health. Nutrients such as Vitamin D, iron, and protein are considered very important. Vitamin D helps keep follicles healthy, iron improves blood flow to the scalp, and protein strengthens the structure of hair.
Green leafy vegetables and soy-based foods are also recommended as part of a hair-friendly diet. Researchers highlight that daily eating habits play a major role in preventing early hair loss. By reducing sugary drinks and adding nutrient-rich foods, people can lower the chances of losing hair at a young age.
