Sui Gas to Collect Additional Fixed Charges from Consumers
Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) and Sui Northern Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)will collect fixed additional charges of Rs. 460 per month from “non-protected” residential consumers. Moreover, this new policy will be implemented from January 1, 2023.
According to news in Express Tribune, revised tariffs to April bills will be applied by both companies, covering gas consumption in March. This change is part of the government’s plan to collect Rs. 310 billion from consumers over six months, from January to June 2023.

The new tariff went into effect at the beginning of this year, and companies will have to collect past dues for January and February and indicate the difference in bills for March, April, and May. This sum will be shown as an “adjustment” and “Previous balance.”
Only non-protected customers who exceed the consumption of 90 cubic meters of gas (on average) during the winter months from November 2022 to February 2023 will be subjected to an extra fee.

However, protected consumers who use up to 90 cubic meters during this period will only be required to pay an additional fixed charge of Rs. 10 per month.
The fixed charges will be collected by both gas utilities, per the notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in mid-February 2023.
