Supreme Court Finally Settles Property Case After 34 Years
A three-judge panel of Pakistan’s Supreme Court has awarded a lady her inheritance rights from her maternal uncle’s assets in a historic ruling.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said, “Women’s rights are being crucified in an unconstitutional and non-Shariah manner,” during the hearing.

Sara Akhtar had to wait a long 34 years to receive her inheritance from the property of her maternal uncle, the former chairman of the District Council, DG Khan, Sardar Mansoor Ahmed Khan Leghari.
Sara Akhtar is to receive custody of 125 acres of land from the Dera Ghazi Khan Revenue Department. In addition, her uncle has been mandated to cover her legal fees.
Akhtar’s attorney told the judge at the hearing that his client was underage when the property was sold. The district council chairman, Sardar Mansoor, he said, gave the land to his wife, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and little children.
The attorney contended that there were situations in which a guy did not violate a woman’s rights. In response to the attorney’s arguments, the CJP stated that he was not aware of any cases in which a woman had stolen someone’s belongings.

Judge Aminuddin stated that the onus is on the buyer to demonstrate that the land was legally purchased. According to Justice Athar Minallah, the petitioner has previously lost three court cases.
