Tapi Gas Pipeline Project to Reduce Energy Crises in Pakistan
Islamabad: According to our sources, President Arif Alvi said on Monday, December 20, that the government would take all means necessary to complete the billion-dollar Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. He added that Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, Meredov Rashid, had been consulted.

To enhance the workload, the parties will form a Working Group. There will be two phases to the project. The free flow phase will cost between $5 and $6 billion, while the compressor station installation project will cost $1.9 billion in the second phase.
The project is 1,800 kilometers long and 33 billion cubic meters in volume. The pipeline project was initiated in 2015, while the Pakistani project was initiated in 2018. It will be the second-largest natural gas supplier.
The pipeline will go from Afghanistan’s Herat and Kandahar to Pakistan’s Quetta and Multan.
