Telcos Revenue Loss After Suspension of Internet in Pakistan
The economy has suffered greatly as a result of the suspension of mobile broadband services in Pakistan, leading to significant financial losses for telecom operators, the government, and the general population.
According to sources in the telecom sector, telecom operators have experienced an estimated revenue loss of Rs. 820 million, while the government has lost approximately Rs. 287 million in tax revenue.
Furthermore, individuals who rely on digital applications like Careem, InDrive, and FoodPanda have faced substantial reductions in their earnings, and digital payments have come to a halt. This suspension has caused widespread inconvenience and hardship for the masses, necessitating immediate attention from the authorities to restore data services.

Sources have indicated that not only telecom companies, but consumers are also incurring losses. They explained that customers who subscribe to daily data bundles are also affected by this situation since they are unable to activate any bundles with the suspension of data services.
Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim commented on the matter, stating that shutting down the internet does not solve any problems; instead, it creates more problems. He emphasized the critical role mobile internet plays in emergencies and productivity, highlighting the fact that for almost 24 hours, 125 million Pakistanis have been without mobile internet.

Aamir stressed that while the devastating effect on the economy can be measured, the inconvenience to people is immeasurable.
It should be noted that mobile internet services have been discontinued in several cities across Pakistan since Tuesday.
The disruption in services began on Tuesday following protests that erupted after the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan. The situation has persisted and there are no signs of it calming down.
Mobile users in many cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi, have reported service disruptions. All major mobile networks in the country have been affected.
