In a parallel move, authorities have also launched a crackdown on individuals spreading misinformation and false narratives online under the cover of protests. Security agencies have identified several people who were allegedly using social media platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp to incite unrest and spread misleading content.
Officials confirmed that a coordinated crackdown is expected to begin tonight, focusing on accounts and users promoting fake or provocative material. Sources said that the operation will cover multiple cities, and more than 200 arrests are expected across the country.
Authorities have compiled a list of individuals believed to be involved in spreading inflammatory or false information aimed at disturbing public order. Monitoring teams have been instructed to trace fake accounts and identify the origin of content that could trigger violence or public unrest.
Law enforcement agencies have intensified surveillance to prevent any attempt to create chaos or damage property. Raids are expected to take place in several urban areas, with security agencies closely tracking online activity to ensure timely intervention against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
