Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to addressing key issues in taxation, energy, and financing to ensure the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s industrial sector, with a particular focus on the textile industry.
The assurance came during a high-level meeting held at the Finance Division today, where the minister engaged with the leadership of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA).

Govt Committed to Strengthening Pakistan’s Textile Sector
During the meeting, Minister Aurangzeb acknowledged the significant role played by the textile industry in Pakistan’s economic development. He assured the APTMA delegation, led by Chairman Kamran Arshad, that the government is fully dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges faced by the sector.
He emphasized that resolving issues related to energy costs, taxation policies, and financial accessibility is crucial for fostering economic stability and ensuring long-term industrial growth.
APTMA’s Proposals for Sectoral Growth
The APTMA delegation provided a comprehensive presentation on the challenges currently impacting the textile sector. Their proposals focused on:
- Reducing energy costs to improve competitiveness.
- Reforming taxation policies to create a business-friendly environment.
- Ensuring easy access to financing for textile businesses.
- Clearing outstanding dues and expediting tax refunds.
Minister Aurangzeb assured the APTMA leadership that their recommendations would be carefully analyzed and incorporated into the upcoming federal budget, where feasible.
Govt to Address Anomalies in Current Policy Framework
Reiterating the government’s consultative approach, the Finance Minister assured that any anomalies in the taxation, energy, or financing framework would be reviewed and addressed.
The APTMA representatives appreciated the expedited disbursement of tax refunds and urged the government to take further measures to facilitate outstanding payments. In response, the minister reaffirmed that the government remains committed to supporting key economic sectors and will continue engaging with stakeholders to formulate effective policies.
