The federal government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, raised the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs11.37 per litre and petrol by Rs5.36 per litre on Wednesday.
Prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan
High-speed diesel and petrol now cost Rs 284.35 and Rs 272.15 per litre, respectively.
The price changes will go into effect on July 16 and stay that way for the next 15 days.
The cost of one litre of kerosene has been lowered by Rs3.10.
On Monday, the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) is anticipated to receive the working paper from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) regarding the updated petroleum pricing. Oil marketing businesses, which provided Ogra with their pricing information earlier this week, have contributed to the plan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was consulted before the Finance Ministry made the announcement. The government has the authority to decide whether to absorb or pass on price changes to customers, even though Ogra offers a technical estimate based on worldwide oil prices.
As of July 1, 2025, high-speed diesel is sold nationwide at Rs272.98 per litre and petrol (Super) for Rs266.79 per litre. Diesel prices may hit Rs278 per litre, while petrol prices will surpass Rs273 per litre with a possible hike of Rs6.60.
