A tragic accident on the Hazara Motorway claimed five lives on Tuesday when a speeding trailer crashed into a car near the Shah Maqsood Interchange. All the victims belonged to the same family and were residents of Gilgit.
According to the Motorway Police, the incident took place when a fast-moving trailer hit a Toyota Corolla from behind, pushing it into another trailer ahead. The collision was so powerful that all five passengers, three men and two women, died on the spot.
The victims were identified as 39-year-old Raza Saleem and his family members, who were on their way to Rawalpindi from Gilgit. Rescue 1122 and Motorway Police teams reached the site quickly and shifted the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Havelian, for legal formalities.
Police officials said the accident occurred due to the negligence of the trailer driver, who was reportedly driving at high speed. They have urged heavy vehicle drivers to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly to avoid such devastating accidents on the busy motorway.
The heartbreaking tragedy has once again raised concerns about road safety and the reckless driving of heavy vehicles on national highways.
