The Caretaker Information Minister of Balochistan, Jan Achakzai, has declared that internet services will be suspended in the vicinity of important polling places in the province on February 8, 2024, the day of the general elections.
Achakzai clarified that internet connections will be temporarily suspended prior to the 2024 elections as a preventative measure. This decision was made in response to a terrorism alert. The province’s Turbat, Mach, Chaman, and other localities will be the most affected by the suspension of internet services.
Keeping people secure is the top concern for the caretaker government, according to Jan Achakzai. He voiced worries that terrorists would use social media sites to instigate violence in the run-up to the general elections.
