Over the course of the next 24 to 48 hours, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain in a number of regions of the nation, including the federal capital, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Met Office, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted to occur in different parts of Islamabad, with some regions perhaps seeing significant downpours. “Isolated heavy spells may occur, but partly cloudy weather is expected in the capital,” a department official stated.

Murree, Mianwali, Attock, Jhang, South Waziristan, and Swat all experienced rain on Sunday. In several northern and central locations, the weather shift temporarily alleviated the hot conditions that were in place.

Rainfall is expected in Punjab and KP.

Rainfall is anticipated throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the province capital Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Charsadda, Upper and Lower Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, and Battagram. Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Hangu, Bannu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan are among the other areas that are anticipated to get rain.

The PMD stated that sporadic rain is predicted in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum, while the majority of Punjab is predicted to stay partly cloudy. Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Gujarat, and Nankana Sahib are also expected to get rain.

Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, and Bhakkar are also expected to experience sporadic showers further south.

Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are also anticipated to get rain.

Balochistan and Sindh will continue to be hot and muggy.

The majority of Sindh and Balochistan’s districts are expected to see hot, muggy weather despite sporadic rain projections. However, areas of Umerkot, Mithi, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur may experience light to moderate rainfall. The province’s coastal regions, including Karachi, may experience partly cloudy skies with sporadic light rain.

Although rain is predicted in Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Musakhel, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Zhob, Khuzdar, and Lasbela, the majority of Balochistan will continue to see hot, dry weather.

The Meteorological Department has urged authorities to stay vigilant in areas where heavy rainfall may cause landslides or urban flooding, especially in steep areas and urban centres with poor drainage systems.

Additionally, farmers and tourists have been advised to consider the weather when planning their activities, particularly in regions of northern and central Pakistan that are prone to rain.
