Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has confirmed that “Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning” will mark his final appearance as Ethan Hunt, the legendary IMF agent he’s played for nearly 30 years. But fans worried about the 61-year-old star retiring can rest easy — Cruise says he’s nowhere near done with acting.
Speaking at the film’s red carpet premiere at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City, Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s the final! It’s not called ‘final’ for nothing.” The film hits theaters worldwide on May 23.
The upcoming blockbuster follows successful premieres in Cannes and London, and will serve as the explosive finale of one of Hollywood’s most iconic action franchises.
“I’ll Make Movies Into My 100s,” Says Cruise
Despite wrapping up his Mission: Impossible run, Cruise made it crystal clear: he has no plans to slow down. “I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s — actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s,” Cruise said enthusiastically. “I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films. I’m excited.”
He also pointed to Harrison Ford, still starring in action films at 80, as a personal inspiration.
