Torrential rains in Buner district have triggered flash floods, submerging low-lying areas, sweeping through fields, and forcing residents to leave their homes for safer ground.
Announcements from local mosques urged people to seek higher ground as water entered houses and reached Pir Baba Bazaar, throwing the town into crisis.
Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayyum said a district-wide high alert has been issued. Rescue teams have been sent to the hardest-hit areas, and safe zones have been marked out for those displaced.

“The water level in Batai and Qadr Nagar is rising dangerously and rushing toward Pir Baba Khoor. Floodwaters have already reached behind the main market and road level. Evacuations are underway,” he said, adding that emergency shelters will be arranged if needed.
Crops and roads badly damaged
Flooding has washed away roads, cutting off access to several areas, while standing crops and orchards have been ruined, sparking fears of major economic losses for farmers.
Residents reported that the nonstop rain — lasting more than five hours — has created widespread panic, leaving many uncertain about what comes next.
