Traders for Linking Faisalabad at Ml-1 for Transportation Goods
According to news reports, Imran Mahmood Sheikh, senior vice president of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), has requested that the government consider connecting Faisalabad to the Main Line (ML-1) of Pakistan Railways for the safe transportation of goods to seaports and upcountry borders.
During a discussion, Senior VP Sheikh mentioned that the city has only one railway track connecting it to Khanewal and Shahdara. The chamber would discuss adding Faisalabad in the proposed megaproject of ML-1 with the government and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority, he added.
Mirza Hadyatullah, chairman of the Standing Committee, said that ML-1, ML-2, and ML-3 railway lines are envisaged under CPEC to connect Peshawar to Karachi via Multan.

Since Faisalabad is a significant commercial, export, business, and industrial center, he continued that a direct link to ML-1 is essential for transporting and importing cargo.
In addition, the closure of a railroad grade crossing near Chenab Mills produced numerous issues for the general public and businesses. The chairman also demanded that the crossing be reopened.
