The government has until August 29 to reverse the rise in the price of power, according to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
Saqib Rafiq, the president of the RCCI, told a press conference on Saturday that traders would stage a protest march from the chamber to Kachehri Chowk if the price increase wasn’t reversed.

Rafiq claimed that given the price of electricity at the moment, businesses cannot compete on the global market. According to him, it is hard to conduct business as usual, and businesses are closing.

He asserted that in order to supply inexpensive electricity and foster a climate that is favourable to investment, the government should concentrate on alternative energy sources.
The president of the RCCI asked that the government address these highly critical issues as a matter of priority, including rising interest rates, the shaky state of the US dollar, ballooning gasoline prices, higher petrol and power bills and persistent food inflation.
