Islamabad’s traffic infraction fines have increased, according to a statement from the interior ministry. The action, which now includes targets bicycles, is a component of a larger program to ensure traffic laws are strictly followed and roads are safe.
According to the official statement, depending on the severity of the infraction, fines will now vary from Rs. 500 to Rs. 8,000. Before, cyclists were frequently disregarded by the law, but now there is a Rs. 500 fine for disobeying traffic signals.
After releasing a formal statement emphasizing the necessity to enforce traffic regulations for the safety of all road users, the government has decided to increase traffic fines.

A Ministry official said, “This initiative is critical in our ongoing efforts to reduce accidents and promote responsible driving.”
Violations of the signal will cost Rs 2,000. According to the notification, one-way violations and underage driving would result in fines of Rs 1,000 for motorcycles, Rs 2,000 for vehicles, and Rs 8,000 for HTVs.
Depending on the type of vehicle, the fines for wearing tinted glasses, reckless driving, and driving without a license are 1,500, 2,000, and up to 8,000 rupees, respectively. The fines for using a mobile phone while driving range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 8,000. Penalties are also assessed for unregistered vehicles, improper parking, and driving the wrong way.
